“Who are you and how do you know the victim?”
I am Polly McGraw, I work in CR – that’s Creature Resources. And as for how I know the victim…? He’s my partner, the person I love most in this world, so do forgive me if I’m at all inarticulate throughout this questioning session.
“So what do you know about the other suspects?”
They are all Ferdinand’s friends. Turnip is Ferdie’s son. The poor child must be distraught, having his father die like this. He gets so nervous around events like this… Such a terrible thing… Bitey O’Sharke is Ferdie’s competitive solitaire partner, they’re good friends, if a little combative. Apparently that Eevil MacKill is their plus one and their own partner. I’m afraid I don’t know much about Mr Eevil at all. Although with their demeanour… Ah, sorry! As for Bear Daddy… I know him. Oh yes, I know him. Ferdie’s “shrimp guy”, could you believe. And that’s all they are. That’s all they tell me, at least.
“What were you doing at the time of the murder?”
At the time of the murder? Well, well… I was in this room, chatting with Bear Daddy. I understand why Ferdie is so… infatuated… with him. He can be quite entertaining. He commented on my shoes – told me they were sharp enough to kill someone! (laughs politely, then pauses) He wanted to know how I could walk in them. Quite fine, thank you.
“Did you leave the room at all between 19:30 and 20:30 on Tuesday 7th February?"
Well, no. There was no reason to. Although the room was tense, after Bitey and Ferdie’s argument. That happened quite early on. I’d say it ruined the party, but there’s a better candidate for that. Honestly it was such an upset that I needed to go take a smoke and- (gasps, pauses, realises what she’s just said) -a-and… and…I never saw Ferdie again. You know, I personally think it was one of two people. Bitey stormed off to Courtyard after the argument, and they were gone for such a long time! They had plenty of time to do it. And, well, I don’t mean to gossip, but… Bear and Ferdie’s relationship is quite close. Close enough that there could be discussion of Ferdie’s quite ample finances. I, of course, never cared about such things, I love Ferdie for his stunning personality, but I don’t know about Bear. And considering his little trip to get alcohol after the argument was over… Just a thought for you, Detective.
