“Could you tell me more about what happened when you left the room?”
Of course I can. I went to the lavatory at about 20 past eight and returned to the room at eight twenty-five. I washed my hands, force of habit you see, but as I was walking to the lavatory I bumped into the younger Mr Dougsoc on his way back from… something. I’m not quite sure. I did notice that she was gone at quarter past eight, but I don’t know exactly when she left.
"Do you know of any reason at all why you, or another suspect may have committed the murder?"
I don’t like repetitive questioning, good detective. I have absolutely no reason, I do not know enough about most of the others to be able to condemn or absolve them, and I have no reason to believe my dear Bitey would do such a thing. And, believe me, I know the kind of person who would. Does that end things?
